As we’re stepping into a new season of a colorful Spring….where will your steps take you?
Shoes….everyone’s shoes tell a story…what would it be like to walk in someone else’s shoes ?
Where would you go?
What would you feel ?
What would you see?
What would you hear?
What would you experience?
What would you gain and what would you lose?
After our tragedy of losing Josh, I didn’t want to walk in my undesired new shoes. I wanted my old shoes back…the ones that walked happy and normal steps. I wanted the steps that included my whole family. I knew my undesired new shoes were going to walk tortuously painful steps. Steps that no one could feel the blazing blisters on my heart; or see the endless ocean of lonely, grieving tears. I was forced to wear my new, undesired shoes…walking into an unknown life I did not want to live. Through these past three agonizing, emotional years, I walk with a little more healing; a little more peace; a few more smiles; a little more dreaming again; a little more comfort….all with God being in each new step…believing my steps will show beautiful again somehow, someway.
The stories of each persons shoes are different everywhere and everyday. Walking in your own shoes is the best to walk in because God custom made your shoes to fit only you to walk out the life you were chosen to live. No two shoe impressions are the same.
Your shoes will walk happy & sad steps; proud & humble steps; laughter & tears steps; comfortable and uncomfortable steps; smooth, level, rocky, and bumpy steps; along with robust and painful steps. And some will walk many steps and some will walk few steps.
Your shoes will walk where no one else’s can.
Your shoes will walk on a path all their own.
The soles of your shoes will have many stories to tell that no one else’s can.
Show your style.
Walk to the beat of your rhythm.
Wear your shoes well and wear’em out with memories well walked because in the end, the soles of our shoes will wear out and it’s then we will receive a pair of perfect shoes in Heaven.
So when you look at others’ shoes, remember those shoes are not just shoes…those shoes tell a very personal story. Those soles are going somewhere; they are feeling and experiencing the good, bad, ups and downs of life; they are seeing and living the journey of their life every day. Each time you notice or look at someones shoes…maybe you could say a quick prayer for them.
